What Are The Effects Of Klebsiella Pneumoniae In Urine During Pregnancy?

My family doc just called back and said urine culture shows klebsiella pneumoniae (sp?). I am 5 weeks pregnant. I have been taking Macrobin since Wednesday. Doc says that med is insensitive to this infection and will be putting me on Keflex. I m very concerned and need to know what kind of complications this will produce. Can it lead to miscarriage? I have contacted my ob and waiting to see if they want to see me earlier than my scheduled appt on 10/31.

hi,your report suggests you have urinary tract infection.if detected and treated early it doesnt cause complications including miscarriage.complications are known only in untreated cases.your doctor had prescribed you macrobin(nitrofurantoin) which is the first line drug to treat uti but your report shows resistance to it.now you have been prescribed keflex(cephalexin) as your urine culture and sensitivity report will be showing sensitivity to this particular drug.both the drugs are very safe in pregnancy and you can take keflex without any worries about complications.take care.
