What Are The Do's And Dont's For A Surgery On The Sphincter Of Oddi?

Hello, 3 yrs ago I had my appendix removed, 2 weeks ago I had my gallbladder removed an in a few days I find out if I need surgery on my sphincter of Oddi. What are the do's and don'ts for these types of surgeries? Like foods to stay away from or anything else? My doctors didn't really go over that with me

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The precautions after surgery of sphincter of Oddi are similar to that for any other surgery.
Initially the surgical would has to be taken care of.
The wound should be dressed regularly.
Any blood or pus discharge should raise the suspicion of infection.
Infection if detected should be treated by antibiotics.
For the initial days nothing should be taken orally.
Parenteral nutrition should be taken.
After few days food can be taken orally.
However, initially fluids should be taken followed by solid foods.
Since, you have had cholecystectomy, fatty foods should be avoided.

Thanks and take care
