Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grandma had a head injury by accidentally slipping on the floor. She was hurried to the hospital and the doctors sais she had a hemorrhage. She then had a 24 hour coma. My mom and my uncles decided to get her a surgery to release the pressure. But after the surgery, she is still in a coma. Is my grandma still going to survive? What are her chances? What food should she take to recover? How will she recover?
I am deeply sorry to hear about your grandmother after having a fall at home. From your description she had a subdural hematoma from the fall and this was followed by coma. It is uncertain whether your grandmother will wake up after such a significant brain injury. While she is in coma she should net be feed anything by mouth. Her doctors will probably start feeding her through a feeding tube or through IVs. Only time will tell if she will recover.
