What Are The Chances Of Contracting HIV?

Hi doctor, i had unprotected sex with one woman once, whom many people believe she has AIDS. However, I went for a blood test one month after our intercourse. The test result showed negative. Anyhow, i had unprotected sex with the same woman after that test once, and i am not comfortable and wondering if the initial test was a failure. Please advice

Hello
You had sexual intercourse that too unprotected and got test for HIV , that was a negative ( one month after primary infection i.e. contract ) .
Once again sexual intercourse and that too again UNPROTECTED , you didn't know the status of girl .
So once again get in rapid nucleic acid amplification test ( P 24 pcr , rna ) for HIV infection confirmation .
This is important for you because the girl has many sexual partner according to you.
Antibodies to HIV appear to begin 2 weeks after initial primary infection ( 2 weeks after initial contract).
Usually Western Blot test is conclusive and specific and results are also accurate ( 99.5%) so need not to worry.
Hope this will help you.
