What Are The Chances Of HIV Infection After Unprotected Intercourse?

I had unprotected top (male) sex. I am circumcised. There were not cuts or bruises on my penis and I did not detect blood on my penis when we finished. The gentleman proceeded to tell me he was on Truvada after the fact and the next morning 15 hours later when things he was saying did not add up... I went to the er and started a PEP regimen. What are my chances of getting HIV please if the person I was with is truly positive? He will not confirm his status once I went the ER and the doctors were trying to make sense of what I was being told by the person I slept with.

Hello
As you mentioned that there was anal intercourse and presumed that your partner was positive HIV ( as you mentioned in the query ).
Now read this carefully :
There is a strong association of transmission of HIV with receptive anal intercourse , probably only a thin ,fragile , rectal mucous membrane separates the deposited semen from potentially susceptible cells in and beneath the mucosa and trauma may be associated with anal intercourse.
Anal douching & sexual practices that traumatized the rectal mucosa also increase the likelihood of infection.
I do agree with you that there was not blood or or bruise but anal intercourse is most dangerous way of transmission of HIV .
Now you have to wait for 2 weeks till antibodies begin to appear for HIV .
Else ,you can start anti viral treatment in advance after consultation with a physician .
After two weeks you can get rapid P 24 nucleic acid amplification test ( pcr , rna ).
But it is not necessary that person always get HIV (even if partner is positive ) so don't take any tension and wait for 2 weeks of initial infection.
Good luck.
