What Are The Causes & Treatment For Gluteal Folds& Diarrhea In Elderly Woman?

My 94 year old mother is bleeding from the gluteal folds and has had severe disarrhea for the last two days. She is in a nursing home. Can this lead to infections, what types and what should I look for or have her tested for? She is due to be discharged from this facility on Tuesday and I am concerned about her overall health. She has also had a bed sore on her bottom and is incontinent.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that she might be having acute gastro-enteritis and due to poor local hygiene and lax skin over the part might give some infection giving rise to cut and bleeding.
Important is to keep local hygiene clean, dry and airy.
Apply antibiotic cream locally.
Having bed sores at this age with completely bed ridden condition are common.
Change her position frequently to avoid constant contact of affected part with bed.
Use air ring cushion or water or air beg for sleeping.
Maintain proper nutrition.
Ok and take care.
