Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are there any recent discoveries in the causes of psoriasis? I see a lot of meds out there used for it s treatment but they all seem to compromise the immune system. I m a bit scared of taking them as I ve been told my immune system is already compromised due to a systemic staph infection, post back surgery, back in 2000. It was quite severe and I was read my last rites twice. Please advise and thank you.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have psoriasis . Well it very important to find out the trigger for psoriasis like Infections , sun burn , stress , cold weather , smoking , heavy alcohol consumption and certain medications . I would suggest you to consult dermatologist again for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may prescribe anthralin, antimicrobials , calcipotriene , a strong derivative of vitamin D betamethasone and vitamin A . It is very important to find out exact trigger factor , that can initiate the symptoms . There are other treatment options a doctor can suggest like ultraviolet light treatment .
