Decreasing your weight by as little as 10% can lead to a reduction in blood pressure. Stick to a low sodium diet and exercise and you could stave off the need for medication. If your blood pressure does not come within normal range (130-120/80-90) with these changes, you may need to add medication to your regimen and/or get evaluated for possible causes of the hypertension
. If your systolic blood pressure is >180 or diastolic blood pressure is >100, it is a good idea to see your doctor anyway.
