Psychiatrist 's  Response
YOUR B.P IS ONLY SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE NORMAL RANGE,THAT ALSO DYASTOLIC ,UPTO 140/90 MM OF HG REQUIRES NO TREATMENT.BP. FROM 140/90-160/100 SHOULD BE CURED BY LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION,USING 4 GM OF SALT,NOT MORE THAN THAT,AVOIDING EXTRA SOURCE OF SALT LIKE .PAPAD,PICKLES SHOULD HELP.

HOWEVER THE DRUG MENTIONED BY YOU CONTAINS HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE WHICH IS MILD DIURETIC AND LOWERS B.P WITHOUT MUCH SIDE EFFECTS.

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello.welcome.The principal of treating hypertension has changed. Now aggressive treatment to bring it to the level of 120/80mm is advocated to minimize long term complications of high BP.Along with medicines lifestyle changes are also instituted like weight reduction, cessation of smoking, moderation of alcohol, reduction of salt and regular exercises.Medicine you are taking is very good and tolerated well by the patient for longterm use with very few side effects.Good luck.
