Vomiting, Dizziness, Diarrhea, Fatigue. Food Poisoning?

Hi, I had a meal in a restaurant last Saturday. I ate duck. I did not enjoy the taste of the food at the time & only ate approx 1/4 of it. I drank over the night 6 glasses of wine which I have done before on a night out.I went home & approx 1-2 hours after eating the food I was very ill vommitting. I shook, was dizzy, had diahhrea & awoke again thru the night with more vomitting. I could not eat the next day until the end of the day & then only plain boiled rice & small amount of chicken. I still feel a bit fatigued a week later & still have some diahhrea & generally feel unwell. My friends joked about the wine but I am convinced I had food poisening as I have never felt that way just due to wine? Thanks wendy

Hello,
It was definitely a case of food poisoning and was brought about due to bacterial contamination of the duck you had.
Normally diarrhea within couple of hours of intake of food is due to the pre formed toxin in the food stuff.
Since you are almost all right, there is no requirement of any antibiotic now but your fatigue and weakness is due to dehydration and electrolyte depletion.
Take plenty of oral fluids,ORS and coconut water.
Take light food.
You shall be all right in next few days.
Thanks
