Vision Problems In Left Eye, Seeing Colored Pattern
My left eye has diminished eyesight and when I close it and reopen it there is a star and sometimes colored pattern over top of my vision. If I put my hand over my right eye, I can hardly see out of my left eye due to this pattern which clouds my vision. When looking through both eyes, my vision is blurred in the left eye.

It seems from the history that you are having colored halos.
Colored halos can caused by problems in cornea or lens like corneal edema or cataract.
Since you have also mentioned about associated diminished vision I advice you to consult ophthalmologist for evaluation and treatment accordingly.
