Varying Power On Eyes. Whats The Power For Contact Lens?
Hello doctor..
my right eye has a power of -1.75/ cylinder of 0.5
my left eye has a power of -1.75/cylinder of 0.75
I do not want to use a torric lens. Would you suggest me what should be the power of the contact lens that I need to buy.Im a regular user of contact lens. Some one suggested a lens of -2.25 for both eyes..Is it Ok??

The power chosen for a patient of only spherical refractive error is -0.25D less than the spectacle prescription and if there is a cylindrical component to add half that to the spherical component. Using this, the power of the lens in the right eye would be -1.75D and around -2.00D for the left. You have to be aware that the vision without a toric component will not be as optimal as spectacles, however.

I would like to answer your question and your satisfaction is my goal .
I would suggest you to use the same power contact lenses i.e, -1.75 for both eyes as there is not much significant difference between cylinder of 0.5 and 0.75 .
I would advise u to use spectacles . If at all you want to use contact lenses , just use soft contact lenses and make sure that you get proper fitting lenses . The lense should neither be tight fitting nor poor fitting . Do not wear lenses while sleeping . I hope you will find my answer helpful .
