Vaginal Yeast Infection, Sore. Will Antiseptic Like Dettol Help?

Hi,

i am 90% sure that I have a vaginal yeast infection. I will definitely pick up some anti-fungal treatment tomorrow, but I was wondering if some household antiseptic like Dettol could be a temporary relief for tonight, so that the infection doesn't spread further. It feels very sore and uncomfortable.

Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for the stupid question.. :/

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
You are suspecting a internal fungal infection, you should just wash with cold water and keep it clean and dry.

Using Dettol may burn locally and make you more uncomfortable.
You should consult Gynecologist she will examine and if necessary certain test may be ordered.

Sometime it is mixed infection which need to be treated. You may require local application as well as systemic treatment to completely cure infection.
You should also avoid sexual contact.

This is simple infection can be treated easily. you will be all right in few days.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
Good Luck.

Hi,
Welcome to Health care magic.
Vaginal infection can be caused by bacteria, fungi or parasites. Fungal infection is most commonly by candida or yeast which present with curdy white discharge and intense itching. There is also presence of typical foul smell in the discharge.
For night now, I would not suggest dettol as this could increase the soreness. I suggest you clean the area with soap and water and keep it dry. Please get in touch with your doctor for a prescription of antifungal/ antibacterial application. Thanks.
