Usually Regular Periods. Missing Periods This Month, Blood While Wiping With Tissue. What Could Be This?

Hi,

I am a female and I am 29 years old. I have been having regular menstrual cycle every month and I have never missed my periods. Last month, I got my periods on June 8, 2013. I have been waiting to get mine this month. However, I have been spotting since July 7, 2013. I don't see anything in the sanitary napkin. But when I wipe with a tissue, I do see blood. Can you please help me with what's going on here? I don't have any other symptom except the feeling that I am about to get my periods. Please help me. I am worried.

Thanks,
D

Hi,
As per your symptoms, it looks like you may be suffering from some breakthrough bleeding. Nevertheless, if you are sexually active and not on any contraception, you should exclude pregnancy. Please get serum beta-hCG levels tested along with a trans-vaginal sonogram and see a specialist for further management. Wish you good health.
