Using Nexito Forte As Mood Stabilizer. Side Effects?

Dear dr. I m from India, I have been using this Nexito Forte since one yr after consulting a psychiatrist as I had undergone depression 2 yrs back.But now I have been using this drug to go sound sleep and also mood stabilizer . I do not know the side effect of it for regular use. I need ur advice/suggestion in this regard.

Nexito Forte is a combination medication which contains Escitalopram (an SSRI anti-depressant) and Clonazepam (a benzodiazepine sedative). So, this medication is effective in treating depression as well as sleep problems.

The duration of treatment for depression depends on a variety of factors like severity of the illness, level of improvement, whether there were any previous episodes, etc. Benzodiazepine sedatives are to be used for a short term only due to the risk of habituation. So, please discuss with your treating psychiatrist regading the further course of action.
