Using Imuran For Ulcerative Colitis. Total Bilirubin 2.1 And Indirect 1.5. Should I Be Concerned?
Hi, I have been using Imuran for almost 3 months for ulcerative colitis and am concerned with my liver function tests. My last test 2 weeks ago had a total bilirubin of 2.1 and indirect of 1.5. Also my ast was elevated at 52 and alt 90. I am getting a bit concerned because I have noticed my veins are more visible. At first it didn't dawn on me but I am part Native American so have olive colored skin and realize it might be a bit harder to notice jaundice. I am wondering if I should wait till Monday for another blood test at my regular clinic or if I should try to get some results this weekend. My wife thinks I also look a bit jaundice so I'm almost positive I am. Please advise.
Hi, the reading says there is jaundice, now don't go for tests directly, consult your gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment. Avoid taking oily foods, junk foods, ice cream, etc. Personally if the eyes are yellow and the urine is yellow it is definitely jaundice. Your doctor will decide the type of jaundice, and treat you. If necessory he may stop your drugs for few days. Thank you.
