Used Lipitor, Had Sore Muscles And Unable To Walk. Tests Came Normal. Advised Lipitor Again. Alternate For Lipitor?

my husband was put on lipitor 40 mg back in Feb. and he came into problems of sore muscles and aches and barely able to walk, he went back to our Dr, three weeks ago,she did blood work, and this week he went for the results, she said bllod work was ok, but she put him back on lipitor 40 mg.this time and we do not want to take this med, s with the problems he ran into taking it,she is not listening to him....

Hello,
If your husband is having severe muscle pain,then there is no need to take this drug.It is happening because of the side effect of LIPITOR called as myalgia.
There can be various alternatives for this like...
Bile acid binding resins
Drugs like EZETIMIBE which block the absorption of cholesterol from intestines
You can take omega- 3 fatty acids fom fish like tuna and mackerel or non aquatic products like walnuts etc.
Sometimes a lower dose of LIPITOR along with combination of EZETIMIBE can also be tried.
There are various combinations which can be tried.
Talk to your doctor regarding this.
