Urine Infections, Stinging On Urinating, Frequent Urges. Causes For Symptoms?

Hi, I ve had urine infections on and off for around a year. Ive had biotics and tablets for it and it kept coming back. Then I went to my gp and had a test where she gave me some different tablets and I haven t had an infection for months. I started my period yesterday and now I keep having stinging when going to the toliet and feeling like I need the toliet all of the time. What do I do? Could it just be something to do with my period?

Dear customer,

You should have the diabetes status checked as the immunocompromised state may prone a person to repeated infection.

The second thing is that you should maintain a good groin hygiene and drink a lot of water. The cranberry juice helps to fight the urine infection in a natural way.

Meanwhile have a urine test, r/e, culture/sensitivity to find the causative organism and start the antibiotics accordingly.

The other causes of increased urinary frequency are :
Alcohol use
Anxiety
Bladder cancer (not a common cause)
Caffeine
Interstitial cystitis
Medicines such as water pills (diuretics)
Overactive bladder syndrome
Radiation therapy to the pelvis, used to treat certain cancers
Stroke and other brain or nervous system diseases
Tumor or growth in the pelvis
Vaginitis

You should consult a urologist and have the test done as mentioned above and also have the sonography of lower abdomen done to rule out other causes.

The definite treatment is according to underlying cause.

Thank you!
