Unable To Sleep Till Late Night, Feel Stressed During School Hours. How To Fix It?

Hi my name is Jessica and I am a 13 year old girl. I have sleeping troubles and I find it hard to doze off when I should be. I go to bed around 8:00pm but unfortunately I do not become tired until around about 1:00am and I generally do not sleep until 3:00am. It s is very stressful with exams and tests at school. I have tried meditation , therapy , and a hypnosis app on my iPod. Do you have any suggestions to what I could try to fix this problem?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

The underlying problem could be anxiety of studies or exams, leading to insomnia. Meeting a psychologist and discussing may be useful.

A small dose of anti-anxiety medication may also be required.

Try not to study till late hours during exams, and try going to bed at around the same time every night (referred to as good sleep hygiene).

Regular exercises would also be useful.

Wishing you good health,
