Ulcers On The Tongue Which Are Yellow And Painful. What Should Be Done Other Than Rinsing The Mouth With Peroxide?
My 24 year old son has ulcers on his tongue that are progressively increasing. Yesterday he showed me the first one & it looked red & a little yellow & definitely painful. Tonight he's got 2 more & they look the same. We viewed photos of canker sores on WebMd & they do not look like that. What could they be? He's been rinsing his mouth out with peroxide, what else should he be doing?

Painful oral ulcer are usually apthous ulcer. 24 years is not the age to have cancer ulcer and cancer ulcer are usually painless unless there is secondary bacterial infection. I would suggest you the following
1. Rinsing mouth with Chlorhexidine solution 2. Local anesthetic like Benzocaine will cause relief of pain. 3. Multivitamin supplement containing B complex Vitamin will be helpful
if the ulcer do not subside after a week, would suggest you to consult a Surgeon
In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Wishing you happy and healthy life
