Type 2 Diabetes. Taking Glyburide, Metformin And Lisinopril. Is It Safe?

My husband has Type 2 diabetes (31 units of Lantus once a day), (Glyburide/Metformin 2.5/500 mg twice a day)blood pressure problems (Lysinopril/hctz 20/12.5 mg once a day and heart problems (Digoxin 0.25 mg once a day), Pradaxa (150 mg two times a day), (Metoprolol Tart 100 mg once a day). Is it safe for him to take OTC Benadryl?

Hello,

Benadryl is an antihistamine and it is a category B drug.
Usually it is not harmful.

But people will hypertension and cardiac conditions may require doctor's advice before take Benadryl.

But the above drugs have no known drug interaction will benadryl.
So it may be safe in your case.

Hello,
Benadryl is avoided if you are taking any other products which can cause drowsiness like alcohol,other anti histaminics,anti anxiety medicines,muscle relaxants and narcotic pain killers.
You can safely take Benadryl with the current medications you are taking.
Make sure that you keep your blood sugar,blood pressure and serum cholesterol levels in tight control.

Yes, it is safe to take benadryl if he has cough. But it may be important to check with a doctor what is causing the cough. Sometimes heart problems can present as cough and it is important that you check this with your doctor.
