Tumor In Left Rotator Hip, Leg Swelling, Discharge From Incision On Thigh. Treatment For Edema?

my mother has a tumor in her left rotator hip area. It has caused swelling to about 3 times the normal size of her leg. she is now oozing from a one year old incision on her left thigh. She had a ultrasound done and they ruled out a DVT a week ago, and come to the conclusion that the edema is due to the compression of the tumor in her hip, Is the oozing a concern?

Dear friend,

I am Dr. (Col) R Karanwal, M.D. (Internal Medicine), Consultant Physician, for your assistance.

Thanks for reposing your faith in me and post your query on this website. I fully appreciate your concerns.

Seriousness of the condition depends on the nature of the oozing fluid.

Swelling can be due to either secondary infection with pus collection; compression over blood vessels by tumor, or ; simple edema. Analysis of oozing fluid will give the exact clue and help your doctor to decide on the further course of action.

Please feel free to revert back to me in case of further clarifications, if any.

I am sure that you will benefit from the advice.

May I assure you that I am always available for your assistance. My endeavor would always be to give you a sound medical advice, to the best of my knowledge and vast experience.

HAVE A NICE DAY AND A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

Fond Regards,

Dr.(Col) R Karanwal
