Trying To Conceive, Have Light Bleeding, Negative Pregnancy Test. Should I Go For Blood Test To Detect Pregnancy?

Hello, we have been trying for a baby for around 3 mths, I never have a late period, my period was a week late today but this morning I started to bleed a very light pink blood, I used a tampon , this afternoon there wasnt much on it when I took it out and it was still a light pinky brown. I have tested negative 3 times so far this past week to home pregnancy tests , should I go and get a blood test for pregnancy or is it still too early to tell?

Hi,

You may please wait for another week as there is a light pink bleed. You may soon have a normal period. If it does not happen so in next one week, then you may repeat the home pregnancy test.

Depending on the result, you may consider getting a blood test done.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Your periods are just a week late.
Urine pregnancy test detects pregnancy 2 weeks after ovulation.
As you are mentioning as negative tests three times; it is unlikely that it will come positive on blood test.

If you are experiencing symptoms of pregnancy as tender breasts, nausea, abdominal heaviness then it is likely to be pregnancy positive.
I would suggest you to wait for week more for periods to come then you can go ahead with blood test.

I hope this information helps.
Best regards,
Dr. Neelam.

hi,
as urine pregnancy test kits are less sensitive that may not detect early pregnancy, so as you told better to go for blood test for pregnancy,
that can detect early pregnancy also,
but delayed periods can occur because of many things that cause hormonal imbalance not only because of pregnancy, so it test comes negative you can consult gynecologist once to get investigated for the cause of delayed periods.
take care.
