Trying To Conceive. Irregular Periods. Prescribed Duphaston. Is It Safe?
Hello,
Due to my irregular periods my dr. prescribed Duphaston. I took the tablets last month and am supposed to continue taking them until August. My husband and I have decided that we want to have a baby and this month we are hoping for that positive...I am just wondering if the Duphaston tablets are O.K. to take while trying to conceive. Should I continue taking them or would they risk my chance of conceiving?
Hello Thank you for your query, Duphaston tablets contain dydrogesterone, a synthetic derivative of the female sex hormone progesterone, which means that its chemical structure closely resembles that of naturally produced progesterone and it therefore works in a similar way. During a normal menstrual cycle, progesterone acts on the endometrium and causes it to stop growing and start secreting hormones and other proteins needed to maintain a pregnancy, if conception occurs. If not, levels of oestrogen and progesterone fall and the endometrium is shed.so, you can continue the medication as it may help you conceive and visit gynaecologist if you require any further help. hope this will answer your query Thank you
