Treated H-Pylori With Antibiotics. Can It Return After Eradication?Symptoms Of Burping, Hard Stools And Burning Stomach Returned

After being diagnosed with H-Pylori, treatment with antibiotics and eradication tested by breath test......symptoms of burping return a couple months later! Also, hard stools now for a week and half and tonight burning in the stomach after eating. Can H-Pylori return even if it was eradicated?
Thanks, Eileen

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

H pylori infection presents with mild gastritis and may be asymptomatic in the beginning but in some patients it colonizes the gastric mucosa and may predispose to atrophic gastritis, malignancy of the stomach. There are also cases of recurrence in this infection. I suggest you undergo biopsy of gastric mucosa and get a confirmation of complete eradication of H pylori.
Thanks.
