Top of the hip bone feel bruised. History of injury, tightness in left leg compared to right. Suggestion?

I run 10klm every 2nd day but recently on top of my hip bone feels bruised after my run. This feeling is on the side of my hip but there is no pain, it just feels bruised. What is causing this? I went for a run this morning and it was ok but after the run this bruise feelin os back now. I am 39 years of age and i have been running for 12 years without an injury. When o do stretches my right leg feels very tight compared to my left leg. Mark

The bruised feeling on top of the hip can be due to bursitis due to inflammation in the area. An overuse can cause such changes. This can be relieved by taking mild pain killers and a hot fomentation.

Thanks for writing to us.
The symptoms you have described are more likely to be symptoms of muscles strain.
To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fomatation at the site.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. Do not try to do exercise that involve painful muscles.
