Took Antibiotics Without Infection. Have Hashimoto S Disease. Due To The Antibiotics Intake?

Apo Sulfatrim Ds 800 160 Mg Side Affects
I took this antibiotic for only 7-8 days, for a condition that I did not have.
I then stopped when my doctor said that I did not have a bladder infection.
I have Hashimoto's disease but was not on meds, until last week.
The above antibiotic KILLED my thyroid! I had an acute attack of my thyroid gland after taking this antibiotic.
Why is this drug being prescribed when it kills another organ in a person's body?

Several animal studies have shown that Hypothyroidism gets worsen even after short term use of apo sulfatrim but I have not come across any human study in this regard. However in view of above animal studies this drug should not be given to a patient having thyroid disorder, when there are several alternative antibiotics available. your suspicion that antibiotic given to you caused worsening of thyroid function might actually be true.
