Took 3 Doxycycline Capsules With Lots Of Water. Having Nausea, Gastric Pain, Severe Sternal Pain. Reason For Symptoms?
Have taken 3 doxycycline hey late 100 mg capsules. Nausea with first 2. With 2nd also had gastric pain-- mild. But with third have nausea and severe sternal pain. Taking meds with lots of water. No food at least 1 hr before and 2 hrs post. Suggestions?
Note-- if I take erythromycin I have esophageal spasms-- cannot tolerate. No problems with augmentum.

Hi,Welcome to Health care magic forum.
You have taken doxycycline hyclate capsules, 3 capsules,with empty stomach.By it self it is gastric irritant, in empty stomach it will be more irritant.
Usually all antibiotics are irritant drugs, depending upon the body constitution some may be less irritant and some more irritant to a patient. Hence the erythromycin is showing spontaneous spasm of the oesophagus.
Augmentin is not irritant at all to you. Like wise some other may be irritant to the augmentin.
In such case of gastric irritation, i usually prescribe to my patient omeprazole, domperidone, and anaesthetic antacid gel.
I advise you to consult your doctor for treatment of the gastric irritation.
