Tonsillitis, Swelling In Glands And Pain. Taking Zpack. Is Heat And Ice Good Treatment?

Hi! I started a zpack 28 hours ago with a diagnosis of tonsillitis at an urgent care . The glands on the left side of my neck are huge and painful. I was wondering when I should expect some relief from the zpack, and if heat or ice is a good thing for my neck. My tonsils are swollen, but are not bothering me near as much as the left neck glands. Thank you!

Hi, thanks for using HCM.

Tonsil infection needs to be treated with antibiotic treatment for minimum 5 days. For symptomatic relief Pain reducing medication and anti inflamatory medications are sufficient. warm salt water gargle 4 times a day is useful. With antibiotic treatment symptoms doesn't reduce in 2 days, better to get examined to rule out other complication like abscess etc.

Regards
