Toddler Passing Pale Yellow, Sour Smelling Stools. Has Low Apetite, Distended Stomach, Stomachache. Solution?

For the past few months my 2 year old toddler has been having really bad sour smelling stools . He usually has 3 to 4 stools a day and they are a pasty consistency and they are a pale yellow color or almost white. He has had a very low appetite to the point were he will only have 2 to 3 bites of food the whole day. Does drink water and milk. And plays and sleeps fine. Stomach does look distended and bloated and does complain of stomach pain. What to do.

Hi
Pale yellow or white stools are due to lack of bile in stool. Is your child having Jaundice? Pale stools occur in cases with hepatitis or in biliary obstruction which are associated with jaundice. Some time infectious diarrhea are the causes of foul smelling stools. It is better to go for routine stool examination to look for any infection, for cysts of giardia and entameba or any protozoa; organisms. So consult your Doctor for evaluation and treatment.
