Tightness In The Throat, Elevated Heart Rate. Concerned About A Heart Attack. Under Stress. Suggestions?

I have been having a tightness in my throat and my heart feels like it is pounding really hard. About a week ago, I was with my friend in his doctor's waiting room and my whole chest started feeling constricted and then my throat, like I had something tight around it. I really thought I was having a heart attack, but after a while, it went away. I have been under a lot of stress for the past year, and I just feel totally exhausted. What do you think is going on with me?

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I read your query regarding feeling of tightness in chest and throat and heart is pounding really hard, you are in stress also. All these are for a very short time and then every thing became O.K..

According to your symptoms it appears to be related with heart rather than throat. These are basically symptoms are of cardiac ischemia or angina.

It will be worthwhile to consult a cardiologist and do complete examination and relevent investigations to find out the basic cause and than accordingly plan for treatment.

As for as throat is concern these symtomps may be put in differential diagnosis with Angioneurotic oedema. but same may be easily ruled out as your discomfort was of very short duration while angioneurotic oedema remains for few hours.

I hope above explanation answers your query.

Regards.
