Think It Is A A Spider Bite On Thigh. Now Bleeding And Pus Oozing Out. What Could This Be?

Hi I discovered what I thought was a bite from a spider on the outside of my right thigh on Saturday. It started off as a medium size bump which harden and swelled up and then became a little larger with a small black head in the center. I wasn t putting anything on it until it turned red and became sore to touch. I also notice it was hotter than the rest of my skin. On Tuesday, the bump popped on its own and blood and pus started oozing out. The more pus and blood that comes out, the smaller tge bump gets and the bigger the head has become. I dont know exactly what the bump is but im scared it msy be infected. It is now Thursday and it is still bleeding and haspus oozing out. It is now smaller and does not hurt as much and is not as hot. What coukd this be?

Hello and welcome to HCM,

The painful red bump from which blood and pus is oozing out is suggestive of an infection.
Since, the bump is hot to touch, an infectious etiology is more suggestive.
This lesion may or may not be causrd by spider or any other insect bite.
These symptoma are similar to that caused by boil.
A boil is superficial skin infection caused by certain bacteria.
Folliculitis is infection and inflammation of roots of hair follicle.
An antibiotic ointment will control the superficial infection. If there is associated pain, pain killers will help.
However, it would be good if you visit your doctor for clinical examination of the lesion.
Clinical examination helps to have a better assessment of the lesion.

Thanks and take care

1. make sure there isn't any other infection of the skin like Staphylococcus infection.
2. make sure this thigh infection doesn't convert into sepsis.
3. see your healthcare provider at earliest for treatment and possible culture.

Hallo,
Almost all spiders are venomous. That's how they hunt. Most spiders are too small, or their venom too weak to be dangerous to humans. Some spiders are pretty well known and seem to get blamed for most of the spider bites out there.
Local reaction to bites from all kinds of toxic bugs look the same redness, swelling, itching and pain etc,.
Take Purinil tablets twice daily.
Apply Dhurva oil twice daily. Wash with mild soap.
