Tested For Cholesterol, High In Triglycerides, VLDL And Uric Acid, Prescribed Medication. How Serious Is The Problem?

i have done a recent check up on the cholesterol and as per the report the exceptions are as follows: - Triglyceride - 205 mg/dl - VLDL - 41 mg/dl - Uric acid - 8.8 mg/dl Cholesterol, HDL , LDL, Glucose, creatinine & calcium are fine. The doctor prescribed some medications. I wanted to know how serious is this exceptions stated above? Kindly comment.

Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,
TGH at 205mg/dl indicates you are having some risk of a cardiovascular diseases (i.e risk is there but not very high). Normal VLDL cholesterol level is between 2 and 30 mg/dL which means you are above normal and are at increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Your uric acid level is high meaning you can easily develop gouty crisis, kidney stones, gallstones etc.
Hence you will require medications to lower them and also a change of lifestyle especially type of food and regular exercising.
