Tenderness In Neck, Under Jaw. Lump Behind Ear. Prescribed Cetrizine. What Is Going On?
I have had tenderness in the neck and under the jaw line particularly at the back left jaw. I also have a lump that comes and goes on the bone behind my left ear. I seem to have problems with allergies and often feel like the sinus are compacted an won't drain. My doctor gave me a script for Cetirizine to take by mouth at bedtime. I haven't used it consistently but I can't help but wonder what is going on. Perhaps I should see my dentist and an ENT ? I can't lose weight and I am tired most of the time.
Hi, The most likely cause for these lumps is enlarged glands or lymph nodes. There are many of these around head and neck and they can enlarge due to inflammation which would happen with your allergies and any sinus infection. Your doctor has given you an anti-histamine which would be the first-line treatment. I would suggest taking this medication and you may find these lumps reduce in size and the tenderness goes away. At this stage i don't think you need to see your dentist of ENT doctor.
