Teenager. Pain In Ribs Extending To Armpit, Pain In Lower Back, Slight Difficulty In Breathing. Regularly Smoking Cigarettes, Marijuana

Hello. I am an 18 year old male from NY. I smoke anywhere from 1/4-1/2 a pack of cigarettes daily and also smoke marijuana on a daily basis as well. Reason I m saying this is because I think it s related to the pain I m having. I usually spend my nights out chilling, smoking, and just hanging out with friends. But lately, I ve been waking up on weekend mornings with this sore tenderness, all throughout my body. Primarily the worst being on both sides of my ribs starting at the bottom of the cage and extending upwards toward my armpit. My lower back also often hurts. I describe these symptoms as feeling almost like somebody just sat on you while you were sleeping for 8. I m also worried if the pain is related to my lungs, as it is also slightly more difficult to breathe once waking up, thanks to the pain. If anybody has any ideas, or has gone through the same thing I currently am right now, please feel free to share. Thanks!

Hi !
Thank you for your query.

Dear sir,
Looking into what history you have provided it is unlike that cigarette smoking is leading to this but marijuana abuse and its withdrawl can lead to all these symptoms which can cause dependency .

Since you have rib pains i would like to suggest you a chest x ray to rule out any bony or lung pathology. A Serum calcium level and vitamin d levels are also neededto rule out any metabolic cause.

Kindly visit a psychiatrist dealing with drug abuse to get yourself checked and make it urgent so that stage of dependency doesnt arise.

Hope you are satisfied with the answer.
If you have any further queries feel free to ask.
Wish you good health.
Take care.
