Teenager. Delayed Periods. Sexually Active. Pregnant?

Hello, I am a female and my age is 16. I have a few questions about my menstrual cycle. First off, yes, I do have sex and my main question is that, my period has been late a week from today and I have taken three at home pregnancy tests and they have all three said "No" what can be happening? Please help, I'm stressing like crazy. Thanks Doc.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
The negative pregnancy test not always rule out pregnancy.
You should consult a gynaecologist for urine, blood test and ultrasonography to rule out pregnancy, If pregnancy doesn't there go for withdrawal bleeding.
Delayed periods may be due to hormonal changes also.
GOOD LUCK.
Take care.

General & Family Physician Dr. Nehal Mehta's  Response
hello,
thank you for using health care magic,
home pregnancy test are not very reliable.. in early stage of pregnancy it can give false negative results.. go for more confirmatory test like beta hcg level or ultrasound.. consult near by gynecologist for it...
if pregnancy gets confirm then you can go under abortion.. since you are in early stage it can be done only by using pills..
in future practice safe sex.. you can use pills or condom..
take care..
Dr.Nehal..
