Taking Accutane. ALT Test Came Back To 35IU/L. Is This Normal? Need To Be Concerned?

Hi, I m on roaccutane - 30mg a day for the past 4 months, and another 4 to go. My ALT test just came back at 35IU/L and my dermatologist says she is not worried, but we will do more tests in two months. Apparently this above normal? I'm quite concerned about this - I occasionally drunk alcohol in those first four months. SHould I be mroe worried?

Hi
Welcome to health care magic. Roaccutane contains isotretinoin which has got interaction with alcohol so you must avoid taking alcohol categorically till you are on treatment with isotretinoin. The drug as such has got negative impact on the liver function test so you must get liver function tests at regular intervals
till you are on isotretinoin therapy.
At present your ALT level are within normal limits so there is no reason to worry but it will be in your interest to follow the doctor's advice as such.
I hope the advice will be helpful for you.
