Hi
thanks for your question.
You don't need to worry continue with bifalac. He will be much better since cultures are negative. Use paracetamol to control fever incase it re occurs.
Keep him hydrated with lots of fluids.
Hope I answered your question.

General & Family Physician Dr. Nsah Bernard's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for posting,

When there is typhoid, there is always a bowel inflammation which will take sometime to heal even after treatment. Maintaining an appropriate diet and good hygiene as you must already have been doing is a good way to go. Typhoid fever can prove difficult at times. Normally when I am treating complicated typhoid, i usually start with IV treatment with chloramphenicol then relay for adults with a floroquinolone such as ciprofloxacin or norfloxacin for 10-15 days or bactrim if child and most of my patients do get complete recovery with little recurrence. Probiotics such as the one your son is taking (bifalac) maybe helpful but not absolute necessity. I say you continue with the current regimen but if another episode of fever, do take him to see pediatrician (if below 18). I would suggest he be placed on oral antibiotics such as bactrim.

Hope this helps
