Symptoms Of Pelvic Cramps, Nausea, Weight Gain. Under Birth Control. Pregnancy?

Hi there,

I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend on May 28th, approximately 8 days into her new cycle. We are both 20 years of age. My girlfriend has been on birth control for 3 and a half years, and has been good with taking it on time. That night we had intercourse, I ejaculated inside her a little bit.

Since that day, she has been having symptoms. Her breasts have gotten noticeably bigger, and her right breast is sore every time she touches it (her left one is fine). She has also been having pelvic cramps as well as stomach cramps, and feeling nauseated. She has an increased appetite as well. However, when she eats, her nausea kicks in. She has also gained weight, which we assumed was from the appetite.

If it helps, she suffered a minor concussion exactly 1 week prior to when we had sexual intercourse. She also has a regular 28 day cycle, and was supposed to ovulate on Day 14. When her concussion hit, she did suffer dizziness, loss of appetite, she was extremely tired all the time, etc.

So i guess my question is, under those circumstances, what is the likelihood that she is actually pregnant? Or could this be all related to something else?

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
The chances of pregnancy have always been there with unprotected sex.
The chances of pregnancy are very less in your case as she is on birth control pills but no method is 100% effective.
You should consult a gynaecologist for urine, blood test and ultrasonography to rule out pregnancy. She should consult a neurologist for her injury.
Good luck.
Take care.
