Swollen right knee, bruising, black discoloration from knee to ankle. Causes for symptoms?

Three days ago my right knee swelled up, was very painful to touch and appeared to have fluid all round it - soft puffiness. Today it was very sore again - a bruising soreness - and tonight it is black. The black bruising is all the way down my leg now from the knee to the ankle. What is this? I have no recollection of knocking my leg or falling. It just became sore around the knee 3 days ago.

Thanks for writing to us.
The swelling in the knee with bruising in the leg without any history of injury could be due to DVT. You need to consult your physician for proper investigations like color doppler.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
