Swollen lymph nodes, movable on touching, cold, cough. Treatment options?

I was just looking at my 6 year old sons neck and noticed he has a marble sized lump on each side in the same spot. He says they hurt when I touch them..he recently had a cold about 2 weeks back..the cough seems to be lingering..more so at night..other then that he does not get sick very often. The lumps move around when you touch them

thanks for posting on HCM,

It is possible that your son developed lymphadenitis which is caused by a likely post-viral cough. Certain infections can react and present as swollen lymph nodes or the lymph nodes themselves could be have been affected by the infection (viral, bacterial etc).
I suggest you get your son to see a pediatrician who can examine him fully, run some few blood tests (aimed at determining signs of infection such as ESR, CBC, CRP etc) and then provide an appropriate treatment to clear off the infection and also treat the swollen lymphs nodes. Medications might include an antibiotics (e.g amoxicillin) and an antiinflammation (e.g ibuprofen).

hope this helps
