Swollen Lymph Node In The Groin Area. No Pain. What Could This Be?

I have what i think is a swollen lymph node in the groin area and it makes noises almost like a stomach growling when your hungry. There is no pain but I can feel it when it swells and and it happening more often lately. I have not been to the doctor yet to confirm so I m not 100% sure its even a lymph node. Ever heard of these symptoms and have any idea what it may be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to HCM, I am Dr. Das
If you give pressure , if the swelling disappears and if you sneez or cough if it get enlarged it is definitely an inguinal hernia. And as you feel growling, it indicates that it contain intestine.
Go to a general surgeon who will tell you what to do. But dont be late because hernias containing intestine often may get complicated by causing obstruction.

General & Family Physician Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan's  Response
Hi there.

Thanks for writing in.

The possibilities I can think of are enlarged inguinal lymph node, inguinal hernia. I would think more in terms of an inguinal hernia.
Does the swelling increase in size while standing up, coughing,or straining to pass stools?
Does the swelling disappear while lying down?
If the answer is yes to both the above questions, more in favour of hernia. I would advise you to visit a surgeon for a complete evaluation.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
