Swollen Eyelid. Warm Compress, Chamomile Tea Bag Didn't Help. Prescribed Bactrim. Eyelids Healed. Should Continue Compress?

Hi, I started with a slightly swollen eyelid a week ago this past Wednesday. It got progressively bigger overnight. I used the eyewash with the eyecup but to no avail. Warm compresses and chamomile tea bag didn't help either. My Medical office Dr.(someone new) prescribed Bactrim for 10 days and warm to hot compresses 2-3x /day for 10 min. each time.
I am now almost completely healed but still some slight swelling right in the area where first begun and still some itching in that same area right above the base of the eyelashes. This entire episode seemed to occur after applying some powder makeup as I touched up in my car before going out on Wednesday eve, October 16,2013.
I am now trying to decide if this will continue to heal the rest of the way with just some more compresses. The physician who saw me(not an eye dr) said if not almost healed within the week, call an opthamologist.
Can you give me any feedback? I am a nurse but no longer work in clinical setting. After looking online, it really seems like something entered inside the lid(maybe particle of makeup?) and is still causing mild irritation. Online think it's called "hydroleum" or something like that?

Hello,
It seems from the history that you had a stye or external hordeolum for which you are on treatment by hot compression and antibiotics.
Stye should resolve within a week with above prescribed treatment.

Sometimes the stye or hordeolum may become hardened and stay for long time, hence I advice you to continue hot compress till the swelling is completely disappeared.
Thank you
