Swelling In The Testicles Due To Injury. Enlarged Testicle. Will It Be Normal In Future?

Hello. I was kicked in the testicles about a year ago and the left one swelled up. I went to see a doctor and he told me to ice it and take pain killers. Being as stubborn as I am, I didn't ice them and put it off. From time to time, the left one feels weird and I can definitely feel how the left testes is larger than the other (slightly). Just today I was mowing the lawn and the left one feels odd when I walk. What can I do to reduce swelling and rid off this odd feeling if I can?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! As your history of trauma to the testicles is a year long, there is no immediate urgency of any surgical intervention. Most possibly, you are having some persistent recurrent inflammation of the left side testicle which did not receive appropriate treatment at the initial stage. For the time being I will suggest you to use a properly fitting scrotal support so that the testes do not lie hanging and being pulled downwards. You can also go for some over the counter anti inflammatory drugs which should be ingested only after your meals. If it does not relieve you, you may be having an associated secondary hydrocele as a sequele to the old trauma and in that case, you have to go to a Urologist for clinical examination and a possible ultrasound of the testes, the reports of which will decide on further course of action. Wishing you an early recovery.
