Swelling In Stomach By Ribs, Dull Pain Near Sciatic Nerve. Suspicion Of Hairline Fracture By Rib. Right Symptoms?

[I fell on my left side about 3 weeks ago....have this swelling in stomach by ribs...feels like a lump when I sit down...now swelling and a dull pain is coming around my left side to my middle back...like right by scatia nerve went to chriporator and they said I have a small hairline fracture on my left floating rib ...could that be causing all my symptons?

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.
As per your history of trauma there is possibility of rib contusion.
Rib contusion is not always visible on X ray .You may need to do MRI or HRCT to see details of injury and to see for any lung puncture.
If there is lung injury then there will be increasing pain with every breath.
I will advise to consult to orthopaedic surgeon.

Medication like muscle relaxant and analgesic will reduce pain along with it use rib support belt.
You may consult physiotherapist for pain management. He may start TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case.
You may need to take rest for early healing.
