Suggest Treatments For Severe Cold, cough And Mucous

Hi 2 nights ago I could not get warm at work. I shivered all shift then came home and sweated all night in bed. I have no nose phlegm but am occasionally coughing up very thick mucus. I sound very chesty when I cough. And had some sharp pain last night when I coughed or breathed in deeply.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI - pneumonia) is more.
You are having fever with chills, cough, thick expectoration, pleuritic chest pain (pain on coughing and deep breathing).
All these are characteristic features of pneumonia.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and Chest x ray.
Chest x ray is must for the diagnosis of pneumonia.
You will need antibiotics, mucolytic, expectorant drugs.
Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Quit smoking if you are having this habit.
Don't worry, you will be alright. First diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
