hi doctors: I have a pilonidal since 3 years ago, Now I plan to get rid of it. I dont know which kind of operation I should take. I saw some horrible store about open wound. It is difficult to heal and multiple operation afterwards might be needed. I live in Netherlands. I wonder if there are better choise of the operation, like the one I saw on internet, cleft lift. But I dont know if any netherlands hospital can do this? Thanks a lot~~~~~~

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pilonodal sinus is treated by surgical excision of the sinus with the surrounding soft tissue.
The surgery is followed by antibiotics and care of the wound.
Infection is common in uncared wounds but not in wounds which are properly looked after.
Pilonodal sinuses are known to recur, however, avoiding collection of hair in the anal cleft will prevent the occurrence of pilonidal sinus.
Consult a surgeon for the treatment of the sinus.

Thanks and take care
