Suggest Treatments For Difficulty In Swallowing

I have trouble swallowing food at least once a week. It's as if it's a blockage that has to pass. I will throw up and wait for things to clear. I had an episode like this Sunday night and since then I can't seem to eat or drink. Even my own saliva comes back up and my throat feels very tight. I had acid reflux about 7 years ago and was on medication but have been off for about 5 years. I get episodes weekly now where I have to wait for some food to pass as it feels like it gets stuck but I haven't had an episode like this one in years. What do I do? Can't keep any food or drink down.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per the explanation you have given it seems that you have a recurring episodes of acid reflux and it is not saliva that is coming up but stomach acid..
Due to acid reflux there seems to be inflammation of the lining of food pipe leading to choked feeling and difficulty in swallowing..
I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to take other Proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole, Rabeprazole , Omeprazole etc.
Antacids like Milk of magnesia has to be taken before meals..
Drink plenty of cool water.
Avoid hot, spicy and heavy meals..
Take small portions of food every 2 to 3 hours.
Take short walk after meals.
At night take your dinner atleast 2 hours before sleeping..
While sleeping keep your head slightly raised as compared to feet and if you sleep laterally prefer left lateral position..
If you are overweight try loosing some weight..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
