Suggest Treatment When Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia

Many years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but pain is changing & I have a lot of pain in my right arm & across my collar bone, also dragging pain in my thighs, pain in the back of my neck, pain in lower back & hips, also weight gain. I have been told it could be polymyalgia rheumatica, could this be so? What tests do I need to have a diagnosis? Many thanks, Helen Hearps

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Fibromyalgia is diagnosed when no other cause is found. ESR and C reactive protein will be high in polymyalgia rheumatica. In such case a consultation with rheumatogist and a complete screening should be done including ANA profile , RA factor etc. If those are clear then can go with fibromyalgia diagnosis. Behavioral therapy, and medications like pregabalin or duloxetine is helpful for this. Cardio exercises and resistance training is good for this also.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
