Suggest Treatment To Regain Lost Eye Sight Due To Cavernous Sinus

Hi, My brother had a staphylococcus aeurus 2 months ago, the infection caused Cavernous sinus thrombosis and lost his sight in both eyes. Neurologist said that the optic nerve is damaged. Is there any treatment or surgery that could help him to regain his sight again. Christelle

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unfortunately since the optic nerve is damaged, it is possible that he may not regain his sight.

Nerve damage can take a long time to repair itself if it is even possible. Many cases of nerve damage are permanent but it depends on the extent of the injury.
You may want to consider speaking to the doctor to determine the exact severity and the chance of repair.

If improvement does occur, it can take months.

I hope this helps and wish him the best
